There are several kinds of cellulose derivatives
Jan 24, 2018

Cellulose derivatives are produced by esterification or etherification of hydroxyl groups in cellulose polymers with chemical reagents. According to the structural characteristics of the reaction products, cellulose derivatives can be divided into three categories: cellulose ether, cellulose ester and cellulose ether ester.

The cellulose esters of actual commercialized applications include cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate butyrate and cellulose xanthate. Cellulose ethers include methyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, cyanoethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose. In addition, there are also esters and ether mixed derivatives.
